Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC)

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC), which is headed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, was created by the Director of Public Prosecutions Act, S.C. 2006, c. 9, s. 121. The PPSC’s mandate is to initiate and conduct prosecutions under federal jurisdiction and to intervene in cases affecting prosecutions and investigations. The PPSC is independent of the Canadian Department of Justice and reports to Parliament through the Attorney General of Canada. For more information on the PPSC, see the Public Prosecution Service of Canada Deskbook.
